Asbestos and Lead Services

Several types of disease can result from exposure to asbestos and lead. We assess to identify and manage asbestos and lead problems, from the initial inspection through the removal process.

Legionella Prevention & Control

Managing the risk of Legionella bacteria proactively is more cost effective than trying to remediate an outbreak retroactively. We design for Legionella control and management programs for our clients. These programs include routine monitoring and testing in areas where the risk of Legionella infection is high.

Routine Legionella Monitoring
Proactive Legionella Risk Management
Environmental Permitting

This allows people to perform activities which may impact the environment by minimizing possible damage by setting parameters and restrictions and delimiting extents on these activities. GEAR's experts understand all aspects of Environmental Permitting and develop an effective representation of our client’s interests.

Water Distribution Studies

We help to solve our clients’ water distribution needs by designing systems that deliver water from a source (usually a treatment facility) in the required quantity, quality, and at satisfactory pressure to individual consumers in a utility’s service area.

Groundwater Remediation

Groundwater is water present below the ground surface which saturates the pore space in the subsurface. Our experts in Groundwater remediation develop projects to treat polluted groundwater by removing the pollutants or converting them into harmless products.

FDEP,  SPCC Regulation, SWPPP Plans

DEP implements state laws providing for the protection of the quality of Florida’s drinking water, groundwater, rivers, lakes, estuaries and wetlands; reclamation of mined lands; and the preservation of the state’s beach and dune systems. The Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure rule helps prevent a discharge of oil into navigable waters or contiguous shorelines. A Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan Identifies potential sources of stormwater pollution and describes practices to reduce pollutants in stormwater discharges from the construction site. It is usually required to comply with EPA's or the state's stormwater construction general permit.

Legionella Risk Assessment & Abatement

Between 8,000 and 18,000 people are hospitalized with Legionnaires' disease in the United States each year. It is a public health concern as its fatality rate during an outbreak ranges from 5% to 30% in those who contract the disease. We help our clients by diagnosing and abating risks by using cost-effective methods.

Water Quality Sampling & Testing

Monitoring the quality of water by having it tested regularly helps ensure that the water source is being properly protected from potential contamination and that an appropriate treatment system is operating properly. This applies to drinking water, storm water runoff, surface water, wastewater effluents, and groundwater.

Environmental Site Assessments

An environmental assessment identifies potential or existing contamination liabilities and allows the buyer or lender to make an informed decision as to the potential environmental risk associated with the purchase of the property.

Storage Tank Closure & Assessment

Upon discontinuance of use of a storage tank, the owner must empty the tank and either remove it or seal it. The area around the storage tank must be restored in a manner that prevents any future release. If contamination is present, the site must be cleaned up in accordance with the proper corrective action procedures.
